Our oak range includes beams up to 10m long procured from a sustainable source in France. The sheer beauty of oak can create stunning design features for modern and older properties. Used for fireplace beams and mantels or lintels, posts gallows brackets or window cills.

Character Green Oak Beams

Green Oak simply means that the Oak is freshly cut, usually in the last 6 months. Freshly cut oak gives it a high moisture content which is favoured in construction projects over Season oak. Green Oak is much easier to work with over seasoned oak goes which can go hard over the drying period, making joining and fixing more difficult. Green oak has become very popular in the last 10 years, as it's used in the construction of industry, as well as landscaping projects and applications.

Oak wood has a high density of about 0.75 g/cm3, which gives it great strength and hardness. As well as this, it is very resistant to fungal and insect attack because of its high tannin levels. With it's appealing grain markings, wide Oak beams have been paramount in the construction of European timber-framed buildings for many years.
